The American dream consists of several different ideas one of those being a perfect family with no issues kind of like the Brady Bunch. In the story The Catcher in the Rye the Main Character Holden fails all of the pre schools his parents send him to. He feels abandoned by his parents because they didn't think about him they just sent him away to school and barely talk. He already resents adulthood and all the lies and false promises and this made it worse. One thing that makes a family is structure, in Colin Powell's ted talk he talks about how structure and discipline makes kids feel safe. This structure helps a family become the ideal American dream.
